“The light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, on the day the LORD binds up the fracture of His people and heals the bruise He has inflicted.” (I30:26)
Sometimes, when we are at odds with someone we love, we desperately want to fix the relationship. We might send emails, text messages, voice messages, or beg and plead in an effort to mend the relationship.
However, if the person we are pleading with is still wounded, then no matter what we do, it will simply irritate the wounds that have not yet begun to heal. And the same applies to us if we are the ones that got hurt.
In order to restore and heal a relationship, the wounds must first be fully healed. Nothing we do can speed up the healing process or make it happen NOW. The more we try, the more damage will be done, which will cause lifelong scars. In order to start the healing process, we must let go and surrender the relationship and the hurt to the Lord. He is the only one who can truly heal all wounds.
We must also trust in His timing; sometimes it will take years for deep wounds to fully heal. Rather than worry or fret when it seems like it is taking too long according to our timing, we must rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him to heal all wounds. And in waiting on Him and resting in Him, He might just draw our loved one closer to Himself.
I can relate to the saying that time heals all wounds, or, let me say, time with my Heavenly Husband healed all my wounds. And He took me on a journey to forgive and heal the wounds that were caused during my childhood and later in life. But it was a much-needed time to allow Him to do the healing in me. And that is what is needed for your loved one as well, time for the Lord to heal all wounds.
