This week I’d like to continue to enhance your ability to follow His lead and hear His voice. Let me begin by establishing these principles and promises as truths.

“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; HE LEADS ME beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.” Psalm 23: 1-3

"Your ears will hear a word behind you, 'This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left.'" Isaiah 30:21

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5–6

“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine!” Isaiah 43:1

"Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker: 'Ask Me about the things to come...'" Isaiah 45:11

“Behold, the former things have come to pass, Now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I will proclaim them to you. Sing to the Lord a new song, Sing His praise from the end of the earth!" Isaiah 42:9-10

“I proclaim to you new things from this time, even hidden things which you have not known." Isaiah 48:6

Recently I’d been reminded about this principle brought on by reading a comment in a form when asked “what did He say...” her reply was “I do not hear Him, I just did what I was supposed to do.” It broke my heart because this means that every still small voice that’s been whispering in her ear has fallen on deaf ears.

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
1 Kings 19:12-13

I knew that so many more brides fall into this state not realizing that He’s always speaking to us, the question is, are we listening?

God created us for the sake of fellowship. Before the fall of man, God walked and communicated with us. We weren’t just another animal, we were made in His image with a spirit and soul for communion with Him.

“They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3 verse 8

Thankfully our Savior changed all that!

“God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9

“what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3

“If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth...” 1 John 1:6

Now that we’ve established that He does speak to us, it’s important to listen for this sweet voice and then acknowledge you’ve heard Him!

I’m always speaking to my HH, most of the time in my heart but even out loud occasionally. It’s like any other bride and bridegroom who lives in a constant state of “honeymooning.” And though some couples have learned to ignore one another, men especially who've tuned their wives out, which most of us know and understand is due to women no longer having a “gentle and quiet spirit” that is not only precious to God but also precious to men and entire families!). As His bride I always enjoy the companionship of my Bridegroom. He is a Gentleman and now that I  have a gentle and quiet spirit, when He speaks, I listen and when I speak, He listens.

To be honest, as I was asking Him how this communication begins to bloom and blossom, He reminded me that it happens once we embrace having a “gentle and quiet spirit.” That’s when we really begin hearing from Him, when this ability is birthed. Once the contentiousness is gone, along with the excessive talking—at this point, it’s quite easy to hear Him!

So, once you’re listening, once you clearly hear Him, it’s important to “acknowledge” Him—which is where we will begin next week. This week, begin to really listen and also to talk to Him all day and even should you wake in the night. Then next week I’ll explain more of what it means to “acknowledge” Him and how important this is to your relationship and to living an abundant life!

If it doesn’t seem to be “working” for you, simply ask Him to make it happen! There isn’t anything your HH loves to do more than to take over anything and everything that’s difficult for His bride to do herself!
