“Hot Pursuit” – RYR CH12

“She will pursue her lovers, but she will not overtake them…” (Hosea 2:7)

I was able to identify with this lesson ("Hot Pursuit") so much. Before I ever found RMI, I used to beg, plead, and pursue somebody to stay with me.

But because I was also on the other side of this begging, pleading, and pursuing, I know that it causes you to want to run away even further; it even gives you more reason to run away.

If somebody does not want to be with you, no matter if it is a husband, child, or family member, nothing you do will convince them to stay or love you. If you keep on calling them and sending messages when they have clearly told you they do not want to be with you or need time away from you, they will only build a stronger and higher hate wall.

When my marriage fell apart and my former husband told me he didn't want to be with me anymore because he didn't love me anymore, I tried everything in my power to hold on to him, even trying to change to be the woman he compared me to, which also didn't work because he could tell it was fake and my old ways would shine through very quickly.

The best thing to do is to completely let go and stop begging, pleading, and calling. Tell them you are letting them go and mean it—not to manipulate, but because you mean it. And then turn all your focus towards the Lord and start pursuing Him.

When I started to let go and stopped calling my former husband, he accused me of seeing somebody else. Well, I actually did have somebody else, because during that time I pursued the Lord with everything in me, and I found my Heavenly Husband, and I was head over heels in love with Him.

You should also not make excuses to try and contact the person to ask forgiveness; talk to your Heavenly Husband about it and ask Him to make an opportunity, at the right time, for you to ask forgiveness. Leave it in His hands and wait for that opportunity; do not go and look for it because it might be too early and the wounds might still be too fresh.

Dear Brides, if there is a relationship in your life that you want to restore, stop pursuing it and let go. Surrender that person into the capable hands of the Lord. Start pursuing your Heavenly Husband and let Him make the impossible possible.

  1. Thank you for sharing Adina, if I think back on how I begged I can’t even think today that was me and now I understand why it made things just worse by begging and crying. And even with my son, I begged so much but the moment I stopped begging and really leaving him in the hands of the Lord, my son came back on his own.

  2. This is very true. It’s also a lot of work to obsess over people like this, it can take a toll on you physically and mentally. Once I realized to let go and ask the Lord to take it, I could literally feel to heaviness go away.
