Worn Out and Defeated

♕ Today's Promise: “But I [Jesus] say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also. Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.” Matthew 5:38–40

Dear Brides, How do you respond when faced with resistance against something you are trying to overcome or achieve? Do you resist or push against it or do you agree with the opposition happily? How you react to the resistance coming against you can determine whether that mountain is moved in your life.

Something that I always did before was resist opposition and "fight" for the things I wanted to happen which I have now learned made things so much worse and delayed the mountain being moved. I could clearly see it now that I would let my emotions lead me and that I made things a lot harder then they needed to be, which also led me to be worn out and defeated.

If you really think about it, when you are nice to someone, agree with them and are joyful when you do, that persons reaction towards you is kindness and they want to "give back" or bless you. When we are mean, have an attitude or disagree with someone, their reaction is to fight back harder. It becomes a vicious cycle of both sides pushing against each other instead of just going along happily, agreeing, and letting the Lord handle it.

This is something that I am learning on a daily basis and is sometimes hard for me to withdraw from resisting because of the way I use to be. I always wanted things my way no matter what and if anyone went against me, I would "fight" back and resist any opposition. It's true, we do it to get what we want and sometimes it works, but then that person develops a bitterness towards us that piles up and eventually breaks that relationship.

Now I've learned to just stay quiet, smile and agree. I have to admit this is very difficult but the Lord has really been working on this with me. I can tell because there have been many situations here at home where I have been tested over and over. I confess that I have failed at times but I have seen big changes in myself from how I was before. And I know this is a process and the Lord will continue to refine me in that area.

The biggest resistance I get is at home. I don't want to be worn out and worn down and killing myself emotionally each time I try to resist the force of opposition. I want to be the woman who does not resist and is terribly agreeable and I will put this into practice everyday. I use to think that women who were so agreeable were weak and had no self esteem. Oh how wrong I was, it was my pride. Thank you My Lord for revealing this to me so that I could change!

Dear Brides, the Lord teaches us in His life the power of no resistance. He has told us to not only not resist someone who opposes us but to agree and go along happily, going beyond what is asked of us. Don't let the enemy wear you out and make you give up, instead give it up but to the Lord and watch that mountain being moved!
