“Small as a Man’s Fist”- LAL, CH 5

"After the seventh time the servant replied, “I see a small cloud coming this way. But it’s no bigger than a fist.” 1 Kings 18:44, CEV

Elijah's story waiting for the rains to start falling, praising the Lord for the smallest cloud, and believing that tiny cloud was about to bring a heavy shower is such a crucial lesson to embrace in everything we are trusting the Lord for.

The idea of keeping an eye out for our tiny clouds speaks directly to our faith and confidence in the Lord. God values us having this kind of faith because it brings Him praise, honor, and glory.

One way we can display our faith and praise Him for the impending storm is to watch for little clouds and submit Praise Reports when we see those small clouds. We must believe that every tiny cloud is a sign that our miracle is near.

For me personally, I've always just looked at the circumstances and what was happening around me, losing hope in the challenges and impossibilities I was up against. But this lesson and this scripture have shown me how to view things differently since faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen.

When my journey began, and especially after the divorce, I was looking at my dire financial circumstances. After the divorce, I lost everything. But since I had already discovered RMI by that point, I made the decision to put my faith in the Lord by giving my tithe from any money I did receive, even if it was a tiny sum. I made the decision to trust that He would open the windows of heaven for me and to take Him at His word.

I can look back now, four years later, and see how He always provided. At first, He provided in small ways, those little clouds that we have to watch out for. I praised Him for each small cloud, knowing that greater blessings were on the way. And the showers of blessings did come. He provides for the needs of the kids and myself, plus occasionally a bit extra.

In no way am I wealthy in terms of material possessions or a sizable bank account, but I am wealthy because I have Him and I have found Him as my Heavenly Husband. I am wealthy because my Heavenly Husband loves me unconditionally and is always there for me. I am wealthy because He is my only and True Source of everything. I am wealthy because I found the Abundant Life that He died to give me.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing dear Adina and thank you for the reminder to look out for the small clouds.

    1. We sometimes forget to look for the small clouds and praise Him for it, and believe that it is just the indication of bigger blessings to come. Praising Him in everything, even the storms, is such powerful principles to live by.

  2. Thank you for sharing Adina! How many of us believe that a tiny cloud brings heavy rain? It got me thinking when things happen, I focus so much on the negative aspects instead of noticing the “positive sign” that may have come with it. May we brides keep our gaze on the Lord when the worst hit and still smile at the future.

    1. I always just focussed on the bad, that every small thing is a sign of more trouble to come, being negative all the time. But PTL we found the ministry and all the lessons with these powerful principles that will change our lives and teach us how to always look out for our blessings, despite what we might see.
