PREFACE

Accomplishing What I Desire

“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.“
Isaiah 55:11

How GOD Can be Trusted to Restore Your Health

Preface

This book is something I've worked on for a few years.  For years I've wanted to finish it and add it to our website, so rather than wait, withholding even one chapter that had the potential to encourage someone who is currently suffering—I am excited to share it with you now.

Proverbs 11:24—
“There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.”

Assuming you've read How God Can and Will Restore Your Marriage, you will again notice, that I began this book using the RYM as the foundation—primarily due to all the healing scriptures and their truths.

His Word Heals!

There are 102 references to healing in the Bible. Promises that He gave us that we need to embrace. Yet one of the most life-changing ways to be healed is to simply be "washed in the water of His Word." (Ephesians 5:26). This particular passage in Ephesians speaks of His church, we who believe and follow Him, and His Word is how we are cleansed. Water will heal any open sore, open wound, any injuries and even cleansing our insides. Water has always been used to cleanse; to remove or prevent illness and infection—and GOD says being "washed in the water of His Word" will clean and purify us.

Reading His Word, no matter what you're reading (like reading through the Bible) will begin healing you of so many things that ail you. Heal your faith, heal your fears, heal your doubts, heal your double-mindedness, as well as insulating you from other options from well-meaning family, friends, and even strangers. If you've been called to walk through this valley of poor health or walk alongside someone who is facing this trial or maybe even carrying someone who is unable to walk down through this difficult valley themselves—you need cleansing, you need spiritual nourishment, you need the truth and His promises that only HIS Word is able to do.

One of my all-time favorite foundational promises He's given us is:

“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.“
Isaiah 55:11

"Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.”

"He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives." Matthew 9:35:

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.” Isaiah 53:5

"He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from ALL their destructions." Psalm 107:20

“The brokenness of His people is healed superficially.” Jeremiah 8:11

“And they have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ but there is no peace.” Jeremiah 6:14

“And He [Jesus] could do no miracle there except that He laid His hands upon a few sick people and healed them. And He wondered at their unbelief.” Mark 6:5

Then Jesus answered and said to her, ‘O woman, your faith is great; be it done for you as you wish.’ And her daughter was healed at once.” Matthew 15:2

Healed Supernaturally

I can't imagine there is any believer who hasn't dreamed and longed to be healed supernaturally. Whether is while going up for prayer in a church or having someone laying hands to be healed. I've had supernatural healing happen to me and also to my children, but for the majority of my afflictions, there was a reason God allowed it. Most of the time His plan is so much grander than I could ever have imagined.

Isaiah 55:8–9: “‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

In one of my books, I share this story about when a missionary visited our church and told a story of a little girl whom he had found living on the streets and she was dying. The missionary said that after caring for this little girl for several weeks, he had been called to leave India to come to the states. When he went to say goodbye to this little girl, he said he knew it would be the last time he would see her alive. When he hugged her, he was so broken and sad when she pulled away and said, “You do not need to be sad for me, because I have Jesus. Jesus is all I need. He is everything. I have everything that I need.” I actually heard this story twice, but the second time it changed my life forever! After hearing the story, I began to tell the Lord that He was all I wanted, He was all that I needed, and that if I had Him I had everything I needed! The more I said it, the more He became the love of my life. What I was speaking became what was in my heart! So when horrible trials began to hit, I began to tell the Lord that He was all I wanted and all I needed. Immediately, whatever came against me no longer mattered, and it lost its sting and its effect over me.

The same thing happened when I began facing a multitude of health issues. When I felt it was unbearable, I would say "Lord, You're all I want, You're all that I need and You're all I live for" rather than beg Him to help me feel better or take away whatever ailment was plaguing me. Almost always the suffering diminished almost instantly or left me completely. Yet very often He would reveal things to me that I would never have come to realize had I not been in this weakened state.

My other hope is to set the record straight, in other words, dispel many lies and misnomers that are taken as fact, thrown our way by "well-meaning" "Christians" that wound us, often making us feel condemned. Things like: the reason we are not healed are due to our lack of faith or this ailment or disease is rooted in sin.

For the record, any time you feel condemned, any bad emotion you feel, the truth is, that it's not from Him—therefore it is a lie, sent by a "well-meaning" and often self-righteous or ignorant or naive "Christian." And the best remedy is to:

  • Nod your head in agreement (Matthew 5:25)
  • Forgive them (Luke 23:34), and
  • Trust that He will use, even this insult (Philippians 12:9–10)
  • Used for good (Romans 8:28)
  • In order that you might inherit a blessing (1 Peter 3:9)

It's time to Journal and"'RECORD the vision and INSCRIBE it on tablets [phones and computers], that the one who READS it may RUN. For the vision is yet for the APPOINTED time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, WAIT for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.’”

Journal list all the reasons you've discovered that confirm that God has a greater plan than to simply "want" you to suffer. Maybe it's the beginning of writing your own testimony to document your journey to full health in order that you may encourage others who are being called to follow the same or a similar path.
