My younger sister was widowed after being married, only two years in two weeks. She had married the love of her life, and I was so happy for her. Then one morning, his heart simply stop.
Then, just before Christmas, I got a phone call and the man asked for my brother-in-law. When I explained had passed away, he asked me to come to his store, because he had purchased something for his wife, my sister, and because he didn’t want her to find the gift. He was supposed to come back and pick it up.
Pause… As I am waiting for my eyes to clear from the tears 🥹as I remember that Christmas morning …
I can’t remember being in this little jewelry store or the drive back, but I do remember when I told my sister to look at an upper branch in the back of the tree because there was a gift for her. I’d have to ask her if there was a card or if the card had been put inside the box, so when she open the diamond bracelet, she’d see who it was from.
As tender as this story is my main reason for wanting to share it with each of you is to remind you that you are HIS bride and your husband, your maker, prepare for his timely and necessary passing with much more than a diamond bracelet. Unfortunately, for many, it’s been left open because the card doesn’t say it’s from your earthly husband or former husband – – the gift that you “really” wanted.
